Understanding Your Body From a Holistic Perspective
If you’ve been told your blood tests are “normal” but still don’t feel like yourself, you’re not alone. Many people experience ongoing symptoms—like fatigue, hormonal changes, digestive issues, or brain fog—despite having results within the standard reference ranges.
We take a different approach. By interpreting your bloodwork through a functional and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) lens, we look beyond disease diagnosis to identify patterns of imbalance and guide your body back to a more optimal state of health.
What is Functional Bloodwork?
Functional bloodwork is a way of looking at standard pathology tests (such as full blood counts, liver function tests, thyroid panels and more) with a focus on what’s optimal rather than just what’s clinically “normal.”
Rather than waiting until something is outside the normal range, we explore the grey areas where subtle shifts may be contributing to your symptoms. It’s not about diagnosing or treating disease—that’s your GP’s role—but rather about gaining deeper insights into how your body is functioning and where support may be needed.
A TCM Informed Approach to Bloodwork
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we see the body as a dynamic system. Each sign and symptom is part of a wider pattern, and blood is considered a vital substance that nourishes and grounds the body.
When we review your bloodwork, we combine this ancient wisdom with a functional approach, considering:
How your results align with your TCM pattern diagnosis
Whether key markers indicate depletion, stagnation, inflammation, or stress
How organ systems may be out of balance from both a Western and Chinese Medicine perspective
What lifestyle, dietary, or herbal recommendations may help restore harmony
This is not a replacement for medical testing or diagnosis. It’s a complementary perspective that helps connect the dots between how you feel and what’s happening inside your body.
Who Is This For?
This service is especially supportive for people who:
Have been told everything looks “normal” but still feel off
You might be feeling tired, bloated, anxious, moody, or not sleeping well—but routine testing hasn’t offered any clear answers. You may have even been told it’s all in your head. Are feeling burnt out or running on empty
Chronic stress, a busy lifestyle, or not prioritising your own needs can take a toll on your health over time. Bloodwork can sometimes show subtle signs that your body needs deeper nourishment or rest. Are navigating hormonal shifts
Whether you're dealing with PMS, irregular periods, perimenopause, or fertility challenges, understanding how your body is functioning hormonally can help guide more tailored support.Experience recurring symptoms that don't fit a diagnosis
Digestive discomfort, headaches, skin issues, brain fog, or low mood can often point to underlying imbalances—even if there's no clear “condition” yet.Value a holistic and preventative approach to health
You’re someone who wants to understand your body, not just react to symptoms. You're open to integrating insights from both Western and Eastern perspectives to stay well long term. Are feeling overwhelmed by mixed health advice
With so much information out there, it can be hard to know what’s right for you. Lea helps you make sense of your results and your symptoms in a grounded, personalised way.
If any of this sounds familiar, functional bloodwork interpreted through a TCM lens can offer clarity, direction, and a fresh perspective on your health journey.
How It Works
We can review recent blood test results you’ve already received from your GP, or help guide you with a list of recommended tests to request. Bloodwork analysis is included as part of a general consultation and is available both in person and online.
Blood test analysis is often woven into in-person consultations, where it's used alongside your symptoms, tongue, and pulse to help guide your treatment. This is a great option if you'd like a holistic snapshot as part of your acupuncture or herbal sessions.
However, if you’re looking for a more detailed and focused discussion of your blood results—perhaps you’ve had complex symptoms for a while, or you're looking to make specific dietary or lifestyle changes based on your bloodwork—a dedicated online consultation is recommended.
This deeper dive gives us time to explore your full health picture and discuss your results in the context of both Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern functional markers.
